Local Poll shows just 8% support for Gordon Brown4.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 25th Jul 2008
Following Labour's defeat in the Glasgow East by-election Andrew Simpson, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North constituency, has released details of a telephone opinion poll survey done in Northampton which shows just 8% of residents think Gordon Brown is doing a good job. "This poll confirms the national picture which seems to indicate that Gordon Brown is now one of the least popular Prime Ministers this country has ever had" said Andrew "Not only that but in another question 83% of people in Northampton thought the country was 'going in the wrong direction' It just shows how far out of touch Labour has now become from the people, it is very difficult to see how, even with a possible new leader, they have any chance of recovering." The telephone poll was conducted in Northampton North constituency during June 2008 with 400 voters being contacted that were representative of the profile of people living in Northampton. ENDS Notes to Editors The poll was conducted by Business Intelligence Company, Marcus Evans in Northampton North constituency for the National Liberal Democrats between 2nd June and 16th June. A representative sample of 400 voters within the constituency was contacted.
