Links View Residents Supported over Water Problems

Andrew Simpson, Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North, has supported residents in Links View, Northampton, in their attempts to get action over problems of water running through gardens and flooding houses in the area.

"Residents have been pushed pillar to post with nobody willing it seems to help solve the problem - instead it seems a case of passing the buck. We need to establish once and for all what is causing this problem which is making local people's lives a misery" said Andrew

Andrew has been working with Northampton Borough Council to establish what can been done and the conclusion is that specialist ground water survey is required for the area.

"A full survey needs to be conducted to find out where this problem originates from and what action needs to be taken to resolve it" said Andrew

Local residents presented a petition to Northampton Borough Council's Full Council meeting with the support of Andrew.

"This problem is making our life hell" said resident of Brackenhill Close Mr Barrie Lawrence. "We have had the Council, Anglian Water and the Environment Agency all out to investigate the problem yet nothing has been done. It is seriously damaging our garden and property".

The water started appearing last year following work done to the ponds on Bradlaugh Fields, a number of residents in the area have since been affected by an apparent rise in the water table in the area - some with short term flooding problems.

In Greenview Drive residents experienced flooding in their gardens after drainage from the golf course couldn't cope.

Andrew has been told by the Council that they will now take action to establish what is causing the problem.
