"Justice done" in Fardon murder case

10.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Sat 20th Jan 2007

Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate for Northampton North Andrew Simpson, has welcomed the news today that Northampton teenager James Hyland has been found guilty and been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of factory worker Michael Fardon.

"The nature of this case being a homophobic hate crime meant that many in the community were watching this carefully to see how the full extent of the law would be applied" said Andrew. "This terrible crime cannot be removed from our memories but the fact that justice has been so comprehensively done is a vindication of the work of the police, the courts and all campaigners against hate crimes in our town."
