Councillors back motion to 'Reclaim the Racecourse'

Northampton Borough Council last night backed a motion submitted by Andrew Simpson and Richard Church, Councillors for Kingsley and Kingsthorpe wards, calling for action on the Racecourse, following a recent spate of vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

The motion commits the Council to work with partners to make improvements and create a long-term plan for the park. It also calls on the Council to support the Healthy Living Hub in seeking external funding and set up a Racecourse Action Team to manage the park.

Cllr Richard Church also questioned Penny Flavell, Cabinet member for Local Environment, on what action was being taken by the council to deal with vandalism to the Racecourse bowling greens.
