After the debacle over plans for Northampton's historic market square, Lib Dem Parliamentary spokesperson for Northampton North, Andrew Simpson has set up an online poll on his web site to gauge public opinion about keeping the square as an open space.

Andrew said "Northampton's Tory administration has failed to show a lead and give a clear steer on options for the square before people have another set of public consultation I wanted to find out what they feel about the square remaining an open space."

Earlier in June Liberal Democrat opposition Councillors on Northampton Borough council successfully proposed that further options on the square are put to the public.

'There is an urgent need to create a successful trading environment for stall holders, and to make best use of our fine market square as a public open space." continued Andrew " We want it to be clear once and for all whether people are happy for all or part of the current square to be provided with a covering."
